The Wombats Boston 2008

Wow, last year there was 25 of us, this year there was a rowdy sold out crowd full of drunken college boys. The boys lapped up the energy and put on a great show, minor complaint (and I know it was because of equipment issues) no 'How to pack your bags' no circuit board city'. All the songs we love - accapella, kill the director Joy Division, Patricia, First Wedding and of course Backfire.
So happy to see folks picking up on them, though I still want to see them in small places.
I hurt because of the wild crowd (note being at the front with a stage at knee level with frat boys behind you is DANGEROUS) but cant stop beaming. Were you there? No? then you missed the best show in Boston this year.
Gilrs Boys and Marsupials which opened the show

Drunken college boys? More like the England fans that had been supping in the Phoenix all day in celebration of England's win vs Croatia;-) Atmosphere and energy was actually very reminiscent of a UK gig. I liked it much, much more than the Pigeon Detectives gig last week (which was easily my least fave show of the year). I too was one of the 25 at Great Scott's last year. Next up a James doubleheader:-)

yes, I will be at James too. You didnt like Pigeons? Matt was restrained as he had beaned a girl in the audience with his mike flying off the night before. Pigeons are good lads too. But were you part of one of the crowd surfing teams?

oh and I do think there were some colege lads there too as well as the drunken brits. Too many bruises to mention, being right at the front with a two foot stage was hard on the knees being thrust onto the stage edge- ouch!
